Odd stuff

I’m sorry that I’ve been a little scarce lately, but I was very, very sick with food poisoning or something this weekend. I’m still doing that ‘weak as a kitten’ recovery stuff. I was miserable!

I also had some very strange dreams last night. I had one that I was driving in a champagne colored car with a coworker and my brother. We were way south, where the freeway is only a two lane road. We’re chatting away, when we hear a child outside screaming for his mother. We pull over next to this drainage ditch to look for the child, and – all of a sudden – the car starts losing gas and power. Matt calls the cops on his cell, and they say that they’ll come pick us up. They also tell us that we’re the fifth distress call that they’ve recieved from that very spot. I woke up like a shot from that one.

Then I dreamed that I found a picture of my Grandmother and a dog named Cadence, dated 1951. She said that Cadence is buried at the corner of 15th and ?? (I’ll have to check my map of New Orleans to see what streets 15th hits) so that she can continue to teach her puppies after she passed on. Persephone woke me up from that one by jumping on me.

My third dream was that Dian, Paul, Tori and my brother all came to stay at the same time. We had just found another part of the house where someone had tunnelled into the hill to make a speakeasy, so we had several other rooms (my dreams are full of secret rooms, and found treasures. Too much Robert Louis Stevenson and Frances Hugson Burnett as a child), and plenty of space for everyone. Problem was the old speakeasy actually opened into a working bar at the other end. People from the bar kept blundering down that odd hallway, thinking it was the loo, and we kept having to feed them before sending them back.

I’ll tell you what: no more theraflu before bed for me!

They actually built speakeasies into the caves around here! One is still a functioning night club for special occasions.

They were renovating the street out by the Spaghetti Warehouse here, and found a speakeasy under the street. They’ve renovated it, and started a bar there. It’s featured in Haunted Texas Vacations (a really awesome book, and worth checking out) because there’s an unexplained cold spot in one corner. It may just be me, but I’m thinking a water pipe behind that wall? Or the fact that we’re sitting on a huge spring fed aquifer? Course that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong…
